Living in a technological world, I have to wonder: is it really faster to use a telephone app at a gas pump than a card? Let me explain.
I pulled up behind a car at a gas pump and noticed a refined individual standing by the car door with their back to me, fiddling with something. After a long wait—and with another frustrated car lining up behind me—I rolled down my window and asked if the person intended to use the pump. The response? “I have to find the gas app on my phone first,” presumably for a price discount.
Fourteen minutes later (yes, I timed it), after additional fumbling with the numbers on the pump, it was finally my turn.
On another note, I was left equally speechless when my editor said, “I love the story you tell in your new historical fiction novel TIME TO TELL, but I want you to do a chapter-by-chapter review, adding more description as the story unfolds. This will take more than fifteen minutes.”
Oh well. Be well, stay safe, and ENJOY this day.
